The Press Office under the Ministry of Health published Wednesday afternoon a press release on the latest SARS situation on the Chinese mainland. All provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities on the mainland reported a total of 147 new SARS cases with 18 patients recovered and 9 deaths.

Of these figures:

Guangdong reported 14 new cases, 9 patient recovered and 1 death

Beijing reported 105 new cases, 9 patients recovered and 7 deaths

Shanxi reported 16 new cases

Inner Mongolia reported 3 new cases

Guangxi 1 new case

Tianjin 2 new cases

Hebei 6 new cases

Ningxia 1 death

By 8 pm of April 22, China had a total of 2,305 SARS cases (including 517 medical workers), which included 1,231 patients who had recovered and been discharged from hospital and 106 deaths.

Among these figures, a total of 1,344 cases (involving 337 medical workers), including 1,146 recovered and 49 deaths, were reported in Guangdong.

A total of 693 cases (involving 126 medical workers), including 55 recovered and 35 deaths, were reported in Beijing.

157 cases (involving 45 medical workers), including 13 recovered and 7 deaths, were reported in Shanxi

36 cases (involving 5 medical workers), including 6 deaths, were reported in Inner Mongolia

15 cases including 8 recovered and 3 deaths were reported in Guangxi.

8 cases including 3 recovered and 2 deaths were reported in Sichuan.

7 cases including 2 medical workers were reported in Jilin.

6 cases were reported in Henan.

6 cases including 5 recovered and 1 death were reported in Hunan.

5 cases including 1 death were reported in Ningxia.

7 cases including 2 deaths were reported in Tianjin.

3 cases including 1 recovered were reported in Fujian.

Zhejiang reported 3 cases, Shanghai 2, Gansu 2, Shaanxi 2, Liaoning 1, Shandong 1, Hubei 1, and Hebei 6.

In addition, a total of 237 suspected cases were reported from across the mainland Wednesday. By 8 pm of April 22, the total number of suspected cases nationwide was 1,093, including 83 from Guangdong, 782 from Beijing, 87 from Shanxi, 80 from Inner Mongolia, 2 from Guangxi, 10 from Sichuan, 2 from Jilin, 1 from Henan, 2 from Hunan, 2 from Ningxia, 5 from Tianjin, 10 from Shanghai, 2 from Gansu, 7 from Shaanxi, 7 from Hubei, 5 from Hebei, 1 from Xinjiang, 1 from Chongqing, 1 from Jiangsu, 1 from Guizhou, 1 from Jiangxi and 1 from Anhui.
