Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa will receive from the Central People's Government the first batch of medical supplies and protective gear for the prevention of SARS on Thursday.
At a ceremony held in Huanggang, Shenzhen on Thursday, State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan will represent the Central People's Government to present the supplies to the Hong Kong chief executive, said a HK government press release on Tuesday.
Director of Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council Liao Hui will also be present.
At a meeting with Tung on April 12, President Hu Jintao pledgedthe Central People's Government's full support for the Hong Kong SAR in the battle against the disease.
Premier Wen Jiabao also reiterated this support at a meeting with Tung in Bangkok, Thailand, on April 29.
