State Councilor Urges Global Cooperation in SARS Research
Global cooperation against SARS is an important task, and China supports cooperation with German scientists to strengthen efforts fighting the disease, says Chinese State Councilor Chen Zhili.

Chen spoke during a meeting on Thursday with a group of German and Chinese scientists attending a seminar on severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). Scientists exchanged their views on the epidemic and future cooperation during the two-day seminar.

The epidemic had posed a severe challenge to humankind, and the Chinese government had taken a series of decisive measures, making progress in prevention and treatment work, she said.

SARS was still a relatively unknown virus, and science and technology would be the final recourse to defeat the disease, said Chen.
