First and foremost don't panic. Very few humans have actually been infected through contact with diseased poultry. Health departments in the epidemic-hit areas of China have undertaken medical checkups and observation of people who have been directly exposure to infected birds, and to date there has been not one case of human infection found. However if common cold type symptoms appear following any contact with HPAI-infected birds, the advice is to go to a hospital immediately and actively cooperate with the doctor during his/her diagnosis and treatment.
