Hong Kong star Alex Fong was awarded Best Actor and Taiwan singer and actress Rene Liu won Best Actress at the fifth Chinese Film Media Awards opened last night in southern China's Guangzhou city.

"fifth generation" filmmaker Tian Zhuangzhuang won Best Director for his film Delamu, which also won Best Picture at the annual award.

Andy Lau, the male lead in Feng Xiaogang's mega-hit A World without Thieves won the title of 'The Ambassador of Chinese Film'.

Renowned director Feng Xiaogang was also given a special award for special contributions to the Chinese movie industry.

The Chinese Film Media Awards are the only film awards recognizing all Chinese language films.
