Ang Lee's Film Premieres at Venice

The new film Brokeback Mountain by Academy Award-winning Chinese director Ang Lee, made its premiere at the 62nd Venice Film Festival.

The film's lead actors Heath Ledger, Jake Gyllenhaal, female lead Anne Hathaway and director Ang Lee attended the red carpet ceremony on Friday, the third day of this year's Venice Film Festival.

An epic love story set against the sweeping vistas of Wyoming and Texas, Brokeback Mountain tells the story of two young men - a ranch-hand and a rodeo cowboy - who meet in the summer of 1963, and unexpectedly forge a lifelong connection, one who's complications, joys and tragedies provide a testament to the endurance and power of love.

Ang Lee's martial-arts epic Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, that dealt with love, loyalty and loss, swept the Oscar nominations in 2000, eventually winning Best Foreign Language Film, as well as Best Director at the Golden Globes, and became the highest grossing foreign-language film ever released in America.
