"Cell Phone" Top Box Office Movie in 2003
The latest movie from renowned Chinese filmmaker Feng Xiaogang, Cell Phone, topped the box office of home-made films in China in 2003.

Ticket sales of the hit film, which opened in Beijing on December 18th last year, have exceeded over 50 million yuan, or US$6 million, setting a new record for Feng Xiaogang's movies.

In some parts of China, ticket sales beat all Hollywood blockbusters.

The movie has also provoked heated discussions nationwide about the troubles and mistrust brought to life by mobile phones.

Feng Xiaogang, the hottest commercial film director in China, started making highly acclaimed "New Year Celebration Movies" in 1996.
