Five Workers Missing in Flood Found Dead in Central China Province

Rescuers recovered the bodies of five workers that were washed away by a flood last Tuesday in the county of Fangxian, central China's Hubei Province, Sunday, according to local government.

Three of the five victims, aged from 17 to 42, were from a local village and the other two were from the provinces of Anhui and Zhejiang, said Liu Kui, an official with the county government.

The accident occurred at the Liuyuanpu Reservoir, located in the village of Shuangwan around 4 PM. Tuesday when a rain-triggered flood swept the five workers who were fortifying the reservoir into the headrace tunnel, said Liu.

The local government dispatched more than 300 people, including policemen and troops, for the rescue operation. The provincial government has also sent divers to join in the search.
