Floods Kill 3 in Yunnan

Floods which occurred Wednesday night in a county of Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province, washed away seven villagers, and so far 3 were confirmed dead, two missing, said local government sources.

At around 19:20 Wednesday, the Hui-Yi Autonomous County of Xundian under the jurisdiction of Kunming was struck by torrential rains which caused crunching floods.

Seven villagers from Shabatang Village of the county were working in the fields when they were washed away by the floods. By press time, three were confirmed dead and two were missing, the local sources said.

The county government has organized a 200-people rescue team to search for the victims immediately after the disaster took place.
