Students in Flooded Areas Resume Studies

School students in flooded Huaxian county, northwest China's Shaanxi Province, resumed studies on Friday under arrangement of the local education authority.

"The new term begins today," said Xue Yuan, a fifth-year elementary school student. She and her younger brother along with over 50 other students started at other schools.

Students affected by the flooding would take classes with other schools and all of them could be back at school within two days, said sources from education office of the county.

As many as 100,000 local people were evacuated because of the flooding in the past few days. The new school term that usually falls on Sept. 1 was postponed and approximately 10,000 students at elementary and middle schools were affected.
