Senior officers of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Garrison in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Monday extended their congratulations to Hong Kong on its being removed from WHO SARS list.
Commander of the PLA Garrison Wang Jitang and Political Commissar Wang Yufa said Hong Kong's departing from the list marksthat Hong Kong has won the battle against SARS.
In a congratulatory letter, they added that under the leadership of the Hong Kong SAR government with Tung Chee Hwa as its head, Hong Kong residents have united as a one to win the battle.
"It proves that Hong Kong people can deal jointly with all the challenges facing them and overcome all the difficulties, to maintain the long-term stability and prosperity in Hong Kong," they said.
They believed that with the implementation of rebuilding and cleaning the city policy, Hong Kong will surely achieve economic revitalizing, and its image as an international city will be further lifted. Hong Kong will surely have a better future, the concluded.
