Chinese, US Delegations Convene One-on-One Meeting

The Chinese and US delegations to the six-party talks are convening a one-on-one meeting in Beijing's Diaoyutai State Guesthouse Monday morning.

The meeting is still going on at press time.

A scheduled plenary meeting of the six-party talks on the Korean Peninsular nuclear issue was postponed on Monday morning, said a source close to the talks.

The plenary meeting was originally scheduled for 8:30 AM local time.

The US chief negotiator Christopher Hill said before leaving hotel Monday morning the talks are very close to end, adding it is "definitely the last day."

He said he had a lot of discussions with Washington. "We are going to see where we are in next couple of hours."

Japanese chief negotiator Kenichiro Sasae told reporters Monday morning that "today is the last day of the talks."

He said no matter what happens, "there will be a result" for the fourth-round talks on Monday.

He pledged that all parties concerned will make the "utmost effort" to reach this goal.
