IPDs Move in Temporary Shelters in Aceh

A number of internal displaced persons (IDP) in Indonesia's tsunami-hit Aceh Province have began to live in temporary shelters, which were delivered by the Indonesian government, a media relation official of Aceh province said Wednesday.

The IDPs would stay in some 270 units of temporary shelters with the capacity of 18,530 people located in 18 districts across the province, the official told Xinhua in telephone.

She said that the Indonesian government has targeted to deliver some 803 units of temporary shelters in the province this year to facilitate the IDPs who are now living in 24 camps, the government office buildings and some other public facilities. One unit can accommodate about 60 persons.

Such places must be cleaned no later than the end of this year before more IDPs must move in, said the official.
