Tremors Reported in Singapore After Powerful Quake in Indonesia

Tremors caused by a powerful earthquake off the west coast of Indonesia's Sumatra Island on Sunday were felt in some parts of Singapore, according to Channel News Asia report on Sunday night.

Singapore's Meteorological Service confirmed that the earthquake, which is believed to be an aftermath of the one rocked Indonesia's Nias Island nearly two weeks ago, affected some of the areas in Singapore, which included the East Coast, Toa Payoh, Bishan, Geylang and Clementi.

The earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale occurred at about 6:35 PM local time with its epicenter being 600 to 700 kilometers southwest of Singapore.
