Air Raid Victims Remembered

Young people in Chongqing Municipality in southwest China, lay wreaths at the former site of the Chongqing Bombardment Massacre on June 6, 2005, the 64th anniversary of a "tunnel tragedy" that saw 2,500 residents killed by a Japanese aerial bombardment during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1937-45). Japanese invaders launched a five-year-long bombardment with 200 air raids from 1938 on the then wartime capital Chongqing, killing about 11,900 residents and injuring 14,700. (China Daily Photo)
