Chorus Festival Marks War Anniversary

An international chorus festival opens June 11, 2005 at the famous Hukou falls on the Yellow River in Shanxi Province. Four overseas Chinese choirs from Singapore, Malaysia and Australia attended the festival. Chinese singers from home and abroad sang songs in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1937-1945) and the centennial birth anniversary of Xian Xinghai. Xian, a great musician, composed at the Hukou falls in 1939 the Yellow River Cantata, a household song that inspired the Chinese people to fight against Japanese aggression. (Xinhua photos)
