Major Terrorist Cases Committed by "Three Forces" First Time Exposed in Xinjiang
In view of the serious and complicated situation in social stability in Xinjiang, December 9 afternoon saw the TV/Phone working conference called by the Party Committee of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region concerning the maintenance of stability in the whole region.

At the conference the penetration and damaging activities conducted by the "three forces" - the antagonistic forces, forces of national-disruption and violent terrorist forces were for the first time exposed since 1990s, according to the news of Dec. 10 from Urumqi.

And next day witnessed the major terrorist cases of six categories done by the aforesaid "three forces" made known as headline news on the front page of the Xinjiang Daily.

1.Explosion: Feb.5, 1992, terrorists set off a chain of explosions on part of public buses, video-show halls and some residential buildings, claiming three lives with more than 20 persons injured. Since Jun. 6, 1993, terrorists staged 10 explosion cases, four assassinations and premeditated assassinations one after another in Kashi, Kotan and Aksu, causing two deaths and 36 injuries. Feb.25, 1997 saw five explosion-cases happen on buses in Urumqi, claiming a casualty of nine and 68 injuries and from Feb.22 to Mar. 30, 1998, terrorists created six explosion-cases in succession at Yecheng County with three people injured and a natural-gas pipeline damaged;

2.Assassination: Assassinations were aimed at cadres of the Party and governments at local levels, patriotic religious personages and innocent people. Terrorists killed the patriotic religious person of the Xinhe County on 22 Mar. 1996 and May 12,1996 witnessed terrorists slay the chief mullah of Id Kah Mosque and concurrently vice-chairman of the Political Consultative Conference of Xinjiang. April 9 the same year, a family of five of the former deputy Party secretary of the Alahake Township were killed and followed with another deputy secretary of the political and judicial commission, member of the Party Committee of Bosikehe Township of Zepu County and his son. Jan.25, 2000, terrorists besieged two families of the Han nationalities in Wushi County, resulting in a big casualty of seven deaths and two injuries with the youngest child being only of two years old and Jan. 26 saw the killing of a Han elderly people aged 60 in Xinhe County.

3.Committing arson: Making over 40 chemical combustion devices in a very short time terrorists attempted to set ablaze simultaneously in 15 places of brisk commercial activities on 23 May, 1998 and fortunately this was discovered and wiped out on time.

4.Poisoning: From Jan.30 to Feb 18,1998, terrorists staged 23 cases of poisoning in Kashi, resulting in four suffering from poisoning, one person and many cattle poisoned to death.

5.Events as fighting, smashing and grabbing to set up riots: Jul. 7, 1995 saw rioting event plotted and roused by terrorists to break into and smash the Prefectural Party Committee, government offices and public security bureau at Kotan. And Feb 5 - 6, 1997 witnessed the terrorists scheming and staging a serious upheaval in Yining, putting seven to death, over 200 to injury with more than 20 vehicles burnt away
