President Jiang Stresses Multi-Party Cooperation Under CPC Leadership
Top Chinese Communist Party leader Jiang Zemin on Friday stressed the importance of the country's system of multi-party cooperation and political consultation under CPC leadership at a gathering of leaders of non-Communist parties and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), as well as personages without party affiliation to celebrate the impending Chinese lunar New Year.

  • Seasonal Greetings Extended

    Jiang, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), made the speech at a gathering of leaders of non-Communist parties and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), as well as personages without party affiliation to celebrate the impending Chinese lunar New Year.

    The general secretary, on behalf of the CPC and the Chinese government, extended seasonal greetings to those present at the gathering.

  • CPC to Work Together with Non-Communist Parties

    Jiang said the CPC will continue to work together wholeheartedly with all non-Communist parties, the ACFIC and people without party affiliation to promote the great cause of building socialism with Chinese characteristics.

  • Multi-party Cooperation & Political Consultation

    Jiang described the system of multi-party cooperation and political consultation under the CPC leadership as a political system that has withstood tests of time, keeps in line with the country's present situation and has particular advantages.

  • Joint Efforts to Protect the System

    Both the CPC and all parties should value, and consciously protect the system and constantly improve it, said the general secretary.

    He called on the non-Communist parties to work together with the CPC to study and solve major problems facing China.

  • Leaders Present at the Gathering

    The gathering was presided over by Li Ruihuan, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee, and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a national advisory body.

    The non-Communist party leaders and personages present at the gathering Included Fei Xiaotong, honorary chairman of the Central Committee of China Democratic League (CDL), Sun Qimeng, honorary chairman of the Central Committee of China Democratic National Construction Association (CDNCA), Lei Jieqiong, honorary chairman of the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD), He Luli, chairman of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang (RCCK), DingShisun, chairman of the CDL Central Committee, Cheng Siwei, chairman of the CDNCA Central Committee and Jing Shuping, chairman of the ACFIC.
