Three judges who took bribes were dismissed from their judicial posts at the 34th session of the Standing Committee of the 11th Guangzhou City People's Congress held Wednesday in the capital of south China's Guangdong Province.
The sacked judges are Peng Yunliang, chief judge of the civil court of Guangzhou City Intermediate People's Court (GCIPC), GCIPC judge Wang Nianning, and Liu Kuan, chief judge of GCIPC executing division of the court.
The Guangzhou City Commission for Discipline Inspection was still investigating the case.
Government officials, judges and prosecutors who carry out illegal acts are usually dismissed from public posts after their misconduct is confirmed, leaving the local people's congress with no say in the punishment of wrongdoers, according to local sources.
Guangzhou City People's Congress is considered to have made progress by taking prompt action in the corruption case before the local commission for discipline inspection completed its investigation.
