State Councilor Underlines Importance of Auditing
Chinese State Councilor and Secretary-General of the State Council Wang Zhongyu on Tuesday underlined the importance of auditing and supervision while addressing a national auditing meeting in Beijing.

To boost China's auditing and supervisory work, Wang said, relevant sectors should enhance the auditing of those government departments holding massive amounts of capital and intensify investigations into those economic crimes.

According to Li Jinhua, head of the National Audit Office, the office audited a total of 104,000 units last year and discovered illegal or rule-bending funds worth 205.2 billion yuan (about US$24.7billion).

The office would further intensify its auditing work this year by exposing more state asset losses or waste, Li said.
