Hong Kong Secretary for Security Regina Ip said Saturday that "all information we have indicates that there are no terrorist activities in Hong Kong and Hong Kong is not a target of terrorist attacks."
She made the remarks during an interview after a Fight Crime Committee meeting.
Asked about the leaflets with pictures of Osama bin Laden scattered on the ground near Hong Kong's biggest mosque, she replied that Hong Kong does not believe those leaflets suggest any credible attacks on Hong Kong.
She added that the Police have investigated the leaflet. There is no evidence to suggest that there is any terrorist threat against Hong Kong.
However, she said Hong Kong has been continuing to appraise its risks with the development of the international situation.
When asked about crime rate issue, she said there are not really very serious crimes like robberies, snatching, pickpocketing and street deception. The police are developing strategies to deal with them.
She stressed that the overall law and order situation in Hong Kong remains good and Hong Kong remains one of the safest places in the world.
