HK Govt Censures Next Magazine of Fabricating News Report
Spokesman for the Chief Executive's Office of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Wednesday censured the Next Magazine of fabricating a news report on the April 12 meeting between Chinese President Hu Jintao and HKSAR Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa.

It is believed that the Next Magazine will publish a report on Thursday on the meeting between Chinese President Hu Jintao and HKSAR Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa in China's Shenzhen on April 12.

The spokesman refuted the magazine's report, saying that the report's quotations from talks between President Hu Jintao and HKSAR Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa and even the report are "a sheer fabrication."

The spokesman noted that during their meeting, Hu fully appreciated the HKSAR government for its great efforts in treatment, prevention and curb the spread of atypical pneumonia.

The spokesman said that at the meeting, President Hu expressed his confidence that under the leadership of the HKSAR government and with the persisting efforts of the HK people from various circles, difficulties facing the HK people in fight against atypical pneumonia will surely be overcome and the city will continue to maintain its vitality.

The Guangdong provincial and Shenzhen city leaders present at the meeting also praised HK government's efforts to strengthen the exchange of views and cooperation on the treatment of atypical pneumonia between Guangdong province and HKSAR.
