Prevention of SARS Among Rural People in China's Capital Urged
Substantial efforts should be done to prevent the spread of SARS in China's capital, said Liu Qi, secretary of the Beijing committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Saturday.

Liu called for measures to ensure the health and safety of rural laborers working in the urban area and all rural residents of Beijing municipality.

He made these remarks during an inspection tour of local villages, when he talked with farmers and officials to assess SARS prevention work.

All construction companies and building project employers must try to ensure that rural laborers remain in the city and to guarantee their health and safety, Liu said.

He called for greater awareness about the prevention of SARS among rural laborers and improvements in their working and living conditions.
