Official Calls for Improving Training of Public Servants

State Councilor Huang Jianmin, speaking at a national conference of heads of schools of administration Monday, urged the schools to study new demands for the capabilities and quality of public servants in the new situation, and constantly improve the quality of training and management.

Hua, who is concurrently secretary-general of the State Council and president of the National School of Administration, urged schools of administration at all levels to take the important thought of the "Three Represents" as the guiding principle and implement the essence of the Sixteenth CPC Congress and the Third Session of the Sixteenth CPC Congress.

Currently and in the near future, the training of public servants should be based on the setting-up of scientific views on the issues of development, administrative work and talented people, the official said.

In his speech, Hua called on local governments at all levels to develop a complete awareness of the status and roles of the schools of administration, by taking into consideration the country's general situation and strategy.

The schools should seek out efficient ways for the training of public servants, in accordance with the requirements for improving the socialist market economy and implementing the strategy of developing the nation by fostering more professionals.
