Tung Urges Building Unity Society

Hong Kong Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa said Sunday that pushing ahead with economic growth, maintaining good relations between the central government and Hong Kong as well as improving governance are important tasks for his government.

He stressed that creating an auspicious, harmonious and unity society is also one of the major tasks of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government.

He expected to work together with the Hong Kong residents to have a better job done.

Sunday is Clean Hong Kong Day. Tung went to the New Territories in a high temperature to inspect the anti-mosquito work there. He said the citywide anti-mosquito campaign requires the active participation of Hong Kong residents.

Answering questions from the media, he said the HKSAR government would earnestly listen to the suggestions and requirements of citizens through any means and seriously handle them.

He believed that the HKSAR government last year made progress in advancing economic growth, raising employment rate, preventing of epidemic diseases and improving governance after adopting positive suggestions of citizens.

Tung pledged that that his government would improve its shortcomings and continue to listen to views of the public and do a good job.
