CPC Vows to Strengthen Party Member Enrollment

Party organizations at all levels should realize the importance and urgency of the party member enrollment work in the new situation and strengthen the work to improve the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), according to a high-level meeting of CPC held on Tuesday.

Participants in the meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, presided over by General Secretary Hu Jintao, stressed that party organizations should pay more attention to selecting members from front-line professionals, intellectuals and the youth, as well as the qualified ones from other social sectors.

It also called that the party member enrollment work must be combined with strengthening the management on party members, which required to establish an inner self-cleaning mechanism to rule out unqualified members in time.

Although progresses have been achieved, the current party member enrollment work still had some problems not catering to the new situation under the socialist market economy. Party organizations at all levels should research the new characteristics of the party member enrollment work and establish new working mechanisms to ensure the sound development of the work, according to the meeting.
