Vice-Chairman of National People's Congress Sheng Huaren says he hopes China and US can take full advantage of the first working talks between China's top legislature and the US Senate so as to help improve mutual understanding.

Sheng Huaren said this at the first group meeting which opened Monday in Beijing.

The meeting marks the beginning of dialogue between the National People's Congress and the United States Senate.

A senior Chinese researcher says regular talks between the two sides will help to reinforce bilateral ties.
