Philippine President Arrives in Beijing

Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo arrived in Beijing Wednesday afternoon to continue her three-day state visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Hu Jintao.

Beijing is the second leg of Arroyo's China tour, following a short visit to Guangzhou City of south China's Guangdong Province Wednesday morning. Arroyo will also visit Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province.

Arroyo once visited China as Philippine Vice President in 2000.She attended the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leaders' informal meeting as Philippine president, and paid a state visit to China in October 2001.

The China tour at this time is Arroyo's first visit to a foreign country since she was reelected president in May.
