Wu Bangguo: China Hopes to Work with ROK for Stable, Healthy Relations

Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC) and member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met with Lee Bu-Young, chairman of the Uri Party of Republic of Korea, who is to attend the Third International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP), stated for Sept. 3-5.

Wu said Sino-ROK relations have been characterized by frequent high-level visits, mutual political understanding, trust and support and a fast-growing economic and trade cooperation.

"It is the common wish of the people of the two countries to further promote all-around cooperation as it is conducive to the peace and development of Asia and the world as a whole," Wu said.

Wu noted that the CPC is willing to conduct various forms of exchange with all political parties in the ROK to deepen understanding and increase cooperation.

China appreciates the ROK's consistent one-China policy, Wu said.

Lee Bu-Young said the consensus reached by ROK President Roh Moo-Hyun and Chinese President Hu Jintao on advancing cooperative friendship laid down a good basis for the development of sound, stable all-around ties.

The ROK is confident of the future growth of ROK-China relations, Lee said.
