Deadly Suicide Bombing Rocks Jerusalem

Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades on Wednesday claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing attack in Jerusalem that killed one people and wounded at least 15 others.

Palestinian sources in the northern West Bank town of Jenin announced right after the suicide bombing attack that the bomber is a Palestinian woman from Jenin who is a member of Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, armed wing of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's Fatah Movement.

The sources said the attack was a revenge for the assassination of a senior Palestinian militant and his aids in the town of Jenin during an Israeli airstrike two weeks ago.

Israel Radio reported that the blast occurred at about 3:50 PM (12:50 GMT) at a hitchhiking station in the French Hill junction in northern Jerusalem.

This was the first suicide bombing in Israel since the Aug. 31 double bus bombing in Beersheva that killed 16.
