Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan has stressed the importance of the Taiwan question in China-US ties when meeting with Douglas Bereuter, president of the US Asia Foundation in Beijing.

Tang Jiaxuan says he hopes the foundation will contribute more to the constant, sound and stable development of China-US ties by pushing the US government to properly handle the Taiwan question in line with the three China-US communiqués.

As a non-profit, non-governmental organization, the US Asia Foundation has carried out exchange and training program with China in many aspects such as legislation, diplomacy, economy, education and NGOs.
