Ethiopia PM Cntinues China Tour in Xi'an

Prime minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Meles Zenaw continued his China tour in Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, Monday.

In the historical city, a capital of Chinese dynasties for more than 1,000 years, Meles visited a high-tech agricultural zone and the well-known terra cotta warriors and steeds of Qinshihuang, China's first imperial emperor.

In the evening, Acting Governor of Shaanxi Province Chen Deming met with Meles, briefing the guest on the history and culture of Shaanxi as well as recent economic and social development in the province.

Meles expressed willingness to enhance economic and cultural cooperation with Shaanxi, noting that Xi'an let him see the long history of China and the country's current development.

Meles began his official China visit, as guest of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, Sunday afternoon when he arrived in Xi'an.

It is the second time for Meles to visit China as prime minister. He visited China from Oct. 29 to Nov. 3, 1995.

As scheduled, Meles will leave for Beijing on Tuesday to continue his China tour.
