An international sports and venue facilities exhibition and trade show will be held in July as Beijing Olympics infrastructure construction is in a pivotal period, Beijing Investment Promotion Bureau said on Wednesday.

"Beijing will build more than 30 sports venues for Olympics competition and a number of separate training centers will be reconstructed. Most projects start this year or in 2006," says Jin Yan, deputy director of Beijing 2008 Project Construction Headquarter Office at a press conference on Wednesday.

"Olympics sports venues and related constructions should not only meet the needs of the games, but also implement the themes of 'Green Olympics, Hi-Tech Olympics, People's Olympics'."

International Sports & Venue Facilities Beijing 2005 Exhibition& Trade Show is to be held from July 15 to 17 at China International Exhibition Center in the Chinese capital.

Some 1,000 companies are expected to attend the exhibition, 60 percent of which are overseas, organization committee member Liu Nan said.

Companies invited include those having business in infrastructure of sports venues, auxiliary facilities, security systems, sports and fitness equipment, security and emergency systems, special vehicles, sports equipment and accessories, sports venue development, operation management and other related services, according to Liu.

"Companies specialized in equipment and construction technology of temporary venue, new and environmental-friendly materials for venues, landscaping and horticulture are particularly welcomed," Liu said.

During the trade show, series of special forums on cooperation on venue construction and operation will be arranged to meet the needs of the suppliers and venue owners.

"Beijing Olympic venue owners, executives from China's provincial and municipal sports venues, sports industry specialists will be invited to attend the forums," Liu added.
