Filipino Missing in Saudi Arabia, Suspected Kidnapped

An overseas Filipino worker has been missing for two weeks and he was suspected of being kidnapped in Saudi Arabia, a local TV reported Monday.

According to the ABS-CBN news channel, the 40-year-old missing, identified as Suelito Leong, worked as a power technician for a telecommunication company named Detecon al-Saudi.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed to the television that Leong's co-workers at Detecon al-Saudi called up the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh on January 18 to report Leong's disappearance.

His colleagues said that Leong was asked by his employer to pick up plane tickets about 40 kilometers from their office on January 11, and then he went missing.

The TV report said that Leong's family in Negros Oriental Province were concerned that he has been kidnapped.

The DFA said that its embassy has informed the Saudi Foreign Ministry and police of Leong's disappearance, and is still waiting for the further development.
