When meeting a visiting Chinese senior party official Wednesday in Brussels, European Parliament President Josep Borrell said the people of Europe are happy China is on the road of development and prosperity and working to contribute to global economic growth.

Borrell also sent New Year's greetings to the Chinese people Wednesday before the Chinese lunar New Year, the Spring Festival.

A spokesman also disclosed that Borrell would visit China during his two and a half year term of office.

A Chinese Communist Party delegation led by Wang Jiarui left Beijing on January 17th for visits to Italy, Germany and the European Parliament.

Wang Jiarui is head of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party.
