Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met with Zmago Jelincic, the president of Slovenia's National Party in Beijing Wednesday.  

The two parties forged a formal inter-party relationship during Jelincic's visit.

Wang said China and Slovenia have enjoyed smooth growth of bilateral ties since the two countries established diplomatic ties 13 years ago. He said the CPC would like to strengthen exchange and cooperation with the National Party in a bid to further the relations between the two countries.

Jelincic said Slovenia, as a member of the European Union, attached great importance to its cooperation with China in political, economic, environmental protection and other areas.

Jelincic reiterated that the Slovenian National Party adheres to the one-China policy. The National Party will also enhance communication with CPC so as to promote the healthy development of the relationship between the two countries, he said.
