President Hu Jintao on Wednesday arrived in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei, for a two-day state visit, which is aimed at expanding cooperation between the two countries. 

During his visit, Hu is expected to meet leaders of Brunei to discuss further promotion of bilateral relations, and exchange views on regional and world issues of common interest.

China and Brunei established diplomatic relations in 1991, and since then, the two countries have expanded cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, with crude oil trade and infrastructure construction in particular.

Brunei is the first leg of Hu's three-nation Southeast Asia trip, which will also take him to Indonesia and the Philippines.

In Indonesia, Hu will attend the 2005 Asian-African Summit scheduled for April 22-23 in Jakarta, and take part together with other Asian and African leaders in the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Asian-African Conference in Bandung on April 24.
