China Hopes to Promote Environmental Cooperation with US

Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan voiced the hope to strengthen dialogues and consultations with the United States in the environmental field, and work with other countries to face the challenges of climate changing.

Zeng made the remarks in a meeting with James Connaughton, chair of the US Council on Environmental Quality Tuesday.

Zeng said China has paid great attention to the impact of the climate changing on environment, pursued the sustainable development strategy, and taken measures to control the resources consumption and pollutant disposal.

China and the US should increase contact and mutual understanding in dealing with the climate changing, Zeng said.

Connaughton spoke highly of the efforts of China on environmental protection, hoping to enhance cooperation between the two countries in this regard.

Zeng also met with Jorma Ollila, Nokia chief executive officer and chairman of board Tuesday.
