Three suicide bombings rocked the Iraqi capital of Baghdad early Wednesday, killing at least 20 people and injuring dozens, police said.

Two car bombs exploded within minutes at the al-Nahda bus station in central Baghdad, and the third one was detonated by a suicide bomber near the al-Kindi Hospital, where the injured were arriving for treatment, police said.

At least a dozen vehicles, including three police cars, were destroyed in the attacks at the al-Nahda bus station, a transit point for travelers heading to the southern provinces of the country. It was unclear if police or the station was targeted in the initial blasts.

Police Capt. Nabil Abdul-Qader said at least four policemen were wounded in the attack at the station.

The latest wave of violence came after the parliament failed to complete drafting the constitution on schedule due to differences among the political factions.
