Vice FM to Visit Japan

Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei will visit Japan from Tuesday through Friday, said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Kong Quan Tuesday.

During his visit, Wu will carry on consultations with Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister Tsuneo Nishida about Sino-Japanese relations and other issues of common concern, said Kong.

Wu, also Chinese delegation head to the fourth round of six-party talks, will talk with Japan's chief negotiator Kenichiro Sasae on the next stage of the Korean nuclear negotiations, Kong said.

The fourth round of six-party talks entered recess on August 7 after 13-day discussions. The six countries -- China, the US, Russia, Japan, South and North Korea -- agreed to resume the talks in the week beginning August 29.

Also according to Kong, Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga will visit from August 30 to September 2 at the invitation of President Hu Jintao.

Prior to her visit, Kumaratunga will also attend a commemorating meeting on the 10th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women to be held in Beijing, said Kong.
