Wen Meets with Australian Governor-General

Mutual political trust and economic cooperation between China and Australia have been enhanced, Premier Wen Jiabao told visiting Australian Governor-General Michael Jeffery in Beijing on Tuesday.

Facts have proved that smooth development of relations between the two countries not only benefits the two peoples, but is also conducive to the prosperity and stability of the Asia-Pacific region, Wen said.

China hopes the two sides will be farsighted and sincerely implement their consensus on furthering mutually beneficial cooperation so as to push forward bilateral relations, he said.

Australia-China relations are in good shape, and Australia will try its best to push forward bilateral relations, Jeffery said.

Australia wishes to enhance exchanges and cooperation with China in economy, trade, energy, education, science, technology, agriculture, medical services and the prevention and treatment of epidemics, he said.

Jeffery arrived in Beijing Saturday to continue his 10-day state visit to China as guest of President Hu Jintao. Besides Beijing, Jeffery also visited Shanghai and Xi'an cities during his China tour.
