Senior CPC Official Arrives in Tanzania

Li Changchun, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), arrived in Dares Salaam Tuesday afternoon for a goodwill visit to Tanzania.

Li said in a written speech released upon his arrival at the airport that China and Tanzania have carried out sincere, friendly and fruitful cooperation in various fields since they established diplomatic relations in 1964. He noted that the Tanzania-Zambia railway is an example of the successful cooperation.

Li leads a CPC delegation to visit Tanzania at the invitation of the Revolutionary Party of Tanzania. He was greeted by senior officials of the Revolutionary Party of Tanzania. Members of the young pioneers of Tanzania presented Li with a scarf.

Li said in his speech that the CPC and the Revolutionary Party of Tanzania have maintained a good momentum in their friendly and cooperative relationship.

Noting that Tanzania is an important country in eastern Africa, Li said the country has become one of the fastest growing economies in the continent. Under the leadership of the Revolutionary Party of Tanzania, the country has continued to readjust economic policy, maintain a steady economic growth and achieve new progress in various social causes, Li said.

He expressed the wish that through this visit to Tanzania, he would experience the achievement that Tanzania made in social and economic development. During his visit, he will exchange views with Tanzanian leaders on expanding bilateral relations and on regional and international issues of common concern.

He voiced the hope that the visit will promote the development of the existing cooperative partnership between the two countries and between CPC and the Revolutionary Party of Tanzania in the new time.
