International Wushu Tournament Opens in Beijing
The fourth international wushu (martial arts) invitational tournament raised its curtain Tuesday in Beijing with the participation of 27 squads from Asia, Europe, North and South America, and resident foreigners.

More than 300 entries are competing in the two-day tournament in required routine, free routine, traditional routine, duilian, taiji and demonstration in group.

The tournament, chaired by the Beijing municipal sports bureau, is aimed to promote the sport for deeper understanding in the world as the 2008 Olympic organizers are applying to the International Olympic Committee to include martial arts into the competition schedule in the coming Olympics.
