China, Vietnam Hold Ninth Round of Boundary Talks
Chinese Vice-Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Vietnam counterpart Le Cong Phung held the ninth round of government-level talks on the two countries' boundary issues from Aug. 22-23, in Kunming, capital of Yunnan Province.

Both parties assessed the past year's boundary talks positively and agreed to start work on all-round land demarcation this September.

They also called for speedy follow-up talks on the countries' joint Fishery Cooperation Treaty in the Beibu Gulf, expressing hopes that demarcation decisions in that area and the fishery agreement will both come into force at an early date.

The two sides also promised they would abide by agreements reached so far, safeguard the peace and stability in the South China Sea and gradually broaden their reciprocal cooperation concerning the sea.

Both expressed satisfaction with the outcome of this round of talks, signing a summary of discussions on Aug. 23.
