Beijing to Host Sino-Japanese Environment Cooperation Week
A Sino-Japanese Environment Cooperation Week will be held in Beijing from Oct. 8 to 12 to celebrate the 30th normalization anniversary of bilateral ties, the State Environmental Protection Administration (SEPA) announced in Beijing Wednesday.

Major activities will include a summit of government officials from China and Japan, a comprehensive forum on the environment of the two countries, a seminar on the prevention and control of sandstorms, and an exhibition on achievements of Sino-Japanese cooperation in environmental protection.

Experts and government official from Mongolia and the Republic of Korea (ROK) will also be invited to join the delegates from China and Japan for the seminar on sandstorms and shifting sand.

They will exchange views with their Chinese and Japanese counterparts on the regional environment problem of sandstorms, said Zhang Shigang, deputy director of the international department of SEPA.

These activities are aimed to review the achievements of Sino-Japanese cooperation on environmental protection, to enhance mutual understanding and exchanges, and to further promote increase cooperation on environmental cooperation between the two sides in the new century, Zhang said.
