US Urged to Respect China's Rights, Interests in Its EEZ
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said in Beijing Thursday that the United States should observe the principles of international law and respect China's rights and interests in its exclusive economic zone (EEZ).

Zhang made the remarks at a regular press conference, saying that the Dowditch, a US naval vessel, recently had engaged in activities in China's EEZ without approval.

"We consider such an act violates the principles of international law, infringes on China's rights and interests as well as jurisdiction over the EEZ," she said.

China has made representation with the US side time and again, she added.

She hoped the US vessel would stop its activities in China's EEZ.
