Colombia-China Cooperation Should Be Enhanced, President Says
Colombian President Alvaro Uribe Velez pointed out on Sunday that his government hopes to enhance the all-round cooperation between the two countries to their mutual benefit when meeting visiting Chinese foreign minister Tang Jiaxuan.

The president said China has set an example for developing countries with its stability and fast growth. The Colombian government sincerely hopes China will play a more important role in international affairs.

Tang said since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries 22 years ago, their relationship has witnessed a stable and gradual development and their mutual understanding is deepening as well. Their deep-rooted friendship and mutual trust will also help broaden the cooperation prospect, he added.

Tang is paying an official visit at the invitation of Colombian foreign minister Carolina Barco Isackson. They will hold talks on Oct. 21.
