Top Legislature Endorses, Supports Chinese Government's Stance on Iraqi, DPRK Nuclear Issues
The National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, fully endorses and supports the Chinese government's stance on the Iraq issue and on the nuclear issue of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), said Jiang Enzhu, the spokesman for the First Session of the 10th NPC on Tuesday.

In reply to an Indian reporter's related question at a press conference Tuesday morning, Jiang said the Chinese government's basic position on the Iraqi issue covers three points:

First, the Chinese government stands for resolving the Iraq issue politically within the framework of the United Nations, and utmost efforts should be made to find a political solution to avert a war, even if only with a slightest hope;

Secondly, the UN nuclear inspectors team should continue to intensify its inspection of Iraq's weaponry and implement the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and;

Thirdly, China demands Iraq carry out the relevant UN Security Council resolutions strictly and in an all-around way, so that it would truly not possess any weapons of mass destruction, and the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Iraq should be respected.

Meanwhile, the spokesman noted that the 10th NPC would hear and deliberate the government work report, which incorporates a part of China's international and foreign relations.
