FM Spokesman on Sino-Russian, Sino-US Visits
Sino-Russian high-level exchanges and US Vice-President Dick Cheney's upcoming visit to China are being arranged, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said in Beijing Tuesday.

Speaking at a regular press conference, Spokesman Kong Quan said that traditionally Chinese and Russian presidents and prime ministers have exchanged visits.

Following this pattern, this year China's newly-elected president will visit Russia and has also been invited by Russia to attend the celebration ceremony for the 300th anniversary of the founding of St. Petersburg.

Kong said all these visits were among the topics of Chinese and Russian foreign ministers when they met last week in Beijing.

There will also be ministerial exchanges between China and Russia this year, added Kong.

A group came from the United States recently to discuss Cheney's upcoming trip to China, and the two sides consulted on the agenda of the visit, Kong said.

The two sides will further consult each other on related questions as there is time before the April visit, Kong said.
