Kandahar Hospital: Bomb Kills 3, Wounds 5
A bomb exploded Monday as participants were leaving a tribal meeting in southern Afghanistan, killing three people and wounding five, hospital officials and eyewitnesses said.

Police were unavailable to confirm the incident, but witnesses said the bomb, which appeared to be operated by remote control, exploded about 15 miles west of Kandahar.

Dr. Usman at Mir Wais hospital in Kandahar said three of the wounded were in serious condition.

No one claimed responsibility for the blast, which was the latest in a series in the region in recent weeks. Authorities usually blame Taliban or al-Qaida remnants for the explosions.
